A chronic yeast infection is, when a person suffers from more than three yeast infections within a span of six months. Though this condition is not life threatening, it definitely causes a lot of distress and can affect one’s sex life very badly. Candida Albicans is a type of yeast which occurs naturally in everyone. The yeast population is controlled by a bacteria called Lactobacillus Acidophilus. When this balance is lost, a yeast infection is likely to appear. Since antibiotics are one of the reasons for yeast infection, they should be avoided too. Tight panty hose allow the yeast to grow in number, therfore loose cotton panty hoses are to be worn. Foods like sugar, white flour, mushrooms should be avoided. A yeast infection should be treated by a doctor. There are several creams and medicines available, but they give only temporary relief. There are a few steps that can be taken to ensure that the yeast infection does not get worse. Plain unsweetened yogurt has good bacteria that helps yeast control and can be used internally and externally. Garlic is very effective in yeast control too.
